The Second City
The Second City is an improvisational comedy enterprise started in Chicago and first opening its doors in 1959. In 1974, Second City expanded to Toronto, located at The Old Firehall on Lombard Street. For 2022, The Second City found a new home and opened its doors at One York Street with a fresh makeover.
'Yes, And…' Sign
The ‘Yes, And…’ sign was an important installation above the bar in the lobby of the Second City theatre—the phrase being an iconic utterance during improv. Our friends at Second City reached out to us asking if we can provide the material and installation for this sign. This customized sign was mounted on clear plexiglass with a routed groove for our LEDs. We used our SlimNeon FlexLED 2400K to outline the words in the phrase. We love the warm glow the LEDs cast on the framing of the back wall.
Sun Rays
The sun rays were done with our FlexLED 60 RGBA 24V (All-In-One Diode) inside our 1520 Aluminum Channels. This was controlled by our VentiQuattro-LED DMX 24-Channel Dimmer inside a custom UL-certified junction box.
Wall Channels
The two groups of three wall channels employ the same versatile products used in the install of the sun rays.
Stage Arches
The three arches on the stage are installed with our FlexLED 60 RGBA 24V (All-In-One Diode). All were controlled by our custom UL-certified junction boxes with our VentiQuattro-LED DMX 24-Channel Dimmer inside. On stage, they can mix and match each section of the arch to create atmospheric patterns, or simulate a door by only having the rearmost arch lit.
