INFINITI QX50 'All Eyes On You'
‘INFINITI QX50 TO LIGHT UP NUIT BLANCHE TORONTO WITH INTERACTIVE, LUMINESCENT DISPLAY
One-of-a-kind vehicle display amplifies visitors’ every move with over 50,000 LED lights sheathing a 2019 INFINITI QX50 luxury crossover
Mississauga, Ont. (Sept. 27, 2018) – For the first time, INFINITI will host its own exhibition, “All Eyes on You,” at Nuit Blanche in Toronto through a never-before-seen iteration of the all-new, 2019 INFINITI QX50. On display at Nathan Phillips Square this Saturday, September 29 from 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., will be a QX50 equipped with six, depth-capturing cameras and over 50,000 exposed LED lights. The animation and design of the LEDs will move and react like particles in space. As visitors begin to interact with the vehicle, the particles will snap to form the shape of the person in front of them, similar to that of a magnetic effect. In its dormant state, the LEDs will be predominantly blue, but as people begin to move in front of the car, the LEDs will shift between a gradient of brilliant green and red. When the user moves fast, the lights will appear red, and when they move slow, the lights will appear green. The concept is a testament to the world’s first variable compression turbo (VC-Turbo) engine, which debuts on the 2019 INFINITI QX50. The red is expressive of the power in the VC-Turbo, while the green implies the high level of efficiency the VC-Turbo is able to switch to seamlessly. Every LED produces 800 lumens with a total combined output of 696,000 lumens and 13,056 watts. To give an idea of what that means, this one-of-a-kind installation produces a high enough lumen output that it can be seen from outer space. While vehicles have been wrapped in LED lights before, the “All Eyes on You” display marks the first time the lights are enabled to respond to human movement and behaviour. “Art comes in many shapes and forms, and vehicles are no exception. While we didn’t use paintbrushes or clay, the ‘All Eyes on You’ display is our interpretation of what the QX50 represents - beauty, but also power, efficiency, and at the full command of the driver,” says Adam Paterson, managing director of INFINITI Canada. “As a brand known for its daring design, we are thrilled to be part of Nuit Blanche Toronto, an important celebration of contemporary art.” ‘
Pixel Car - INFINITI QX50
Over 167 meters of Pixel FlexLED 5V RGB High Frequency LED covered the outside of the INFINITI QX50. Installed by our Moss LED installation team it took nearly a month and a half to complete. This was one of the first times using our PixlArt 416 controllers, mounting them on a custom rack which was designed to fit inside the vehicle. As the car was used in public locations, the entire system utilized a Class 2 safety power system and utilized 144 X 5V power supplies in order to achieve this. Attached on multiple DIN rails inside the vehicle, our custom 5V power supplies were also installed so this installation could be transported and powered up as it travelled across Canada.
