Canada’s Drag Race is based on the American series RuPaul’s Drag Race and is the Canadian edition of the Drag Race Franchise.  This reality competition can be seen on Crave and Amazon Prime.
For this project, Moss LED provided custom lighting solutions for both the Werkroom—where the contestants prepare for upcoming challenges—and the runway studio, where the judges deliver their critiques. Our lighting installations emphasized the vibrant and iconic elements of each space, enhancing the visual atmosphere for both the contestants and the judges.
Werkroom "Werk" Sign
The iconic Werkroom sign, a centrepiece where the queens prepare and "werk," was illuminated with our SlimNeon FlexLED in Cyan. The sign was dynamically controlled using our Cinque-LED DMX Dimmer, providing precision lighting control for the vibrant display.
Werkroom Maple Leaf
To add depth and emphasis to the Maple Leaf, FlexLED RGB 60 24V was utilized along the perimeter, casting light toward the back wall to highlight its shape. This installation was controlled by our Dodici-LED DMX 12 Channel Dimmer for effective management of colour transitions.
Werkroom Window Lighting
The windows in the Werkroom were backlit using our 1'x1' RGBW LED Rigid Panels, providing a soft, even glow that complemented the room's energy. Dodici-LED DMX 12 Channel Dimmer ensured seamless lighting control across all window installations.
Neon Signs in the Werkroom
Season three introduced new neon signs, including designs of a lipstick, shoe, crown, arrow and star, all created with our SlimNeon FlexLED in vibrant colours like cyan, red, orange and magenta. These eye-catching additions were controlled with our Cinque-LED DMX Dimmer, offering flexible lighting control to match the show’s dynamic atmosphere.
Werkroom Columns
In season four, the Werkroom columns were upgraded to achieve a more evenly lit appearance. FlexLED 96 RGB + White All-In-One 24V was utilized, directing light inwards for uniform illumination. Our VentiDrives, with their 6 X 200W outputs, were utilized to power the columns, ensuring a balanced, powerful glow.
Judges' Desk in the Mainstage
The Judges’ Desk, where critiques are delivered, was enhanced with a combination of our DiffuseFLEX™ LED RGB and FlexLED Bi-Color 2700K - 6000K 24V strips. The front of the desk features DiffuseFLEX™ LED RGB to create a striking effect on camera, while the underside utilizes our FlexLED Bi-Color to highlight the vibrant magenta below. Additionally, DiffuseFLEX™ LED Bi-Colour (2700k - 6000k) was installed on the judges’ side of the desk to provide subtle, flattering lighting for the judges’ faces and necks. All lighting elements were precisely controlled by our Dodici-LED DMX 12 Channel Dimmer.
